Our Story: Text
Crew 2.jpg

Film making and story telling are our passion.

Everyone loves and recognises a great story. From babies to grandparents, we all feel freed from our current concerns and are inspired when we hear a great story.

At See It On Screen, we are in the business of telling those stories through film.

There is talent everywhere.

In our experience, there is talent everywhere and it can be recognised on sight.

There is no "closed shop" at See It On Screen. We will give opportunities to anyone who is keen to work, to learn, and to turn up.

We always mix experienced crews with less experienced individuals, so that everyone involved can develop.

Scottish Short Finalists

Ice Melts and Out Of Town Finalists for Prestigious Award

October 29th 2021

See It On Screen’s debut films, Ice Melts and Out Of Town, have both been selected as Finalists for the Best Scottish Short category in The British Short Film Awards 2021.

The winner will be announced in early December but, after only a few short months, See It On Screen's films are already being discussed alongside those of BAFTA and Academy Award winners.

Hester Middleton, founder of See It On Screen and producer of both films, said “We were always determined to prove that undiscovered talent given some experienced and knowledgeable direction could produce films of real depth and quality.  The selection of Ice Melts and Out of Town as Finalists for Best Scottish Short surely achieves that.

"We are still a young company and we will only get better with more projects under our belt, so it is really encouraging that our work is already generating so much positive feedback.  To have both films competing in the latter stages of The British Short Film Awards is beyond our expectations.”

Archie Middleton, Director, and the creative force behind both films, added “This puts the icing on the cake of a fantastic year of production and premieres and is deserved recognition of the work and talent that has gone into both projects.

"We have just finished filming our third film, Earth Is Flat, and this recognition just adds to our belief that we are building something very special from the grassroots up.  I can promise everyone that you ain't seen nothing yet!”

See It On Screen Is Coming Home!

Debut Films To Have Their Leith Premiere with end-of-festival special screening at Leith Community Croft

August 20th 2021

Following the highly successful world premiere of ‘Ice Melts’ and ‘Out Of Town’ in Stockbridge last month, See It On Screen’s debut films will have their Leith Premiere at Leith Community Croft at John’s Place, Leith Links on Sunday 29th August at 6PM.

The Leith Premiere, to be held on the final day of the Edinburgh International Festival, will see the films screened where they were filmed and allow the local community to celebrate some of its brightest stars together, in the evening sunshine.

The films were crafted by new Director Archie Middleton, a graduate of the MetFilm School, and his impressive professional network including Academy Award-winning editor Emily Walder, internationally renowned cinematographers James Stier and Gabor Szabo Kovacs and well known performer and songwriter Hugh Kelly.  Both films star local skatepark celebrities Callum Thomson and Gilbert Felkel, introduce Surraya Halliday and Freyja Price and feature cameo roles for popular Edinburgh personalities, Howie George and Clarky Russell.

Hester Middleton, producer of both films, said

“We are excited to be coming home for our next screening of ‘Ice Melts’ and ‘Out Of Town’.

“We hope to bring a little more sunshine to Leith by marking the end of Edinburgh’s International Festival with an event in the heart of the town.

“See It On Screen’s hope is to be rooted in the community, ‘Creating Films By Anyone, For Everyone’. Our films will always be professionally filmed, edited and distributed.

“As part of our community focus we are working with Leith Community Croft to put on this event.  We would also like to thank Edinburgh Wheels Project for its support.”

Archie added

“Leith provided the inspiration, the settings and much of the acting talent for ‘Ice Melts’ and ‘Out Of Town’.  I love that our finished work will be shown so close to where we filmed our opening shot.  I am looking forward to discussing the films and our unique approach to film production with members of the audience after the screening.

“We are building something special and I am certain that everyone who comes along to our Leith Premiere will see the future of Film is here.”

Evie Murray, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Earth In Common said

“We are looking forward to hosting this film premiere at Leith Community Croft.  See It On Screen and these lovely independently-made films fit in perfectly with our ethos of providing a better community life. The idea and aim of creating local opportunities for a fulfilling and sustainable lifestyle for everyone is at the core of our values and aims too.  We hope to see our regular visitors to the Croft and to meet many new friends here on the 29th!”

Colin Whiteford, from Edinburgh Wheels Project, said

“‘Out Of Town’ was a story I had percolating in my mind for years.  See It On Screen has supported me to bring my ideas to life.  I love what has been produced and am delighted to see it being shown in my home town of Leith.”
